ABOUT MONICA
Monica Cannon-grant is a Civil Rights leader and Organizer in Boston, ma.
She was born and raised in roxbury, MA and has done decades worth of grassroots organizing, MUTUAL AID, activism and advocacy in communities of color in boston.
In 2016, Monica was a Candidate for State Representative for the 7th Suffolk District. While that was ultimately not her path, she worked closely with elected officials and victims of police violence on legislation, while also mobilizing community members around addressing the white supremacist root causes of community violence in communities of color, and the generational trauma that follows it.
Monica went on to start Violence in Boston from her apartment and eventually opened a brick-and-mortar social impact center to offer free resources to young people (like the use of podcast and recording equipment), to families (like a fully stocked food pantry), emergency housing for victims of violence and served as a main point of contact for trauma support at crime scenes.
